Our Story

Melodies of Colors was established in August 2021 by Roshonda Adams, a remarkable survivor who transformed her personal adversity into a powerful mission. Having endured childhood molestation and a domestic violence marriage, Roshonda resolved to empower fellow women facing abuse. In founding Melodies of Colors, she envisioned a nurturing community specifically tailored to African American girls and women who, like herself, had faced harrowing experiences of abuse. Roshonda's unwavering dedication ignited substantial growth for the organization.

Roshonda Adams is the founder and Executive Director of Melodies of Colors. As a wife, mother, grandmother, and full-time entrepreneur, Roshonda has found healing and purpose after enduring childhood molestation and domestic abuse. At age 22, Roshonda entered into a marriage with her abusive first husband in 1997. She embarked on a long healing journey after finding the courage to leave that relationship. In 2011, Roshonda launched her own business, AFM Taxes and Things. Now free from the pain of her past traumas, she has become a compassionate advocate for other girls and women affected by abuse.
